Addy's 4th Birthday Cake

Double layer 9x13 Milk Chocolate Cake

I made 2 batches of vanilla frosting and didn't use all of it but came close, maybe 1.5 would have been enough. I used this recipe for the frosting http://sallysbakingaddiction.com/2013/03/19/easy-homemade-funfetti-cake/

For the decorations I used the Wilton Class 1 buttercream, the one with all shortening.

Bottom border: Adeco tip 30
Top border: Wilton tip 12
Leaves: Adeco tip 112
Vines: Adeco tip 4
Big flowers: wilton tip 21
Small flowers: Wilton tip 18

Tinkerbell top is from Amazon.

Jacob - covered in hives!

3/21/14

After preschool, Jacob was very clingy and something was definitely off. He started to get a few hives, but had no fever. However after only a few minutes the hives got worse so we headed to the pediatric walk in. At that point he had a low grade fever, and with the strep test coming back negative, the doctor said it was an allergic reaction to something and to take benadryl.

During the night it was obvious the benadryl wasn't working, he was basically one big hive! So first thing in the morning I was ready to take him to the hospital, but was waiting for a call back from the doctor first. The doctor said the hives were most likely the body's way of dealing with the low grade fever and to give benadryl more often and also tylenol. As the day went on, he was not improving, it was actually getting quite worse. But there were no other symptoms so we just kept waiting.

Then miraculously in the morning he was fine! No hives, no fever, and tons of energy.

Jacob - sleep over

Jacob:

On 3/14 you had your first sleep over at Nana & Papa's without Mom (we stayed there last year during a snow storm). I brought you over and we set up your room to make you feel comfortable and then Mom went home! I knew you would be fine but was a little worried because you seemed very tired.

Turns out you were fine! Nana & Papa of course let you stay up too late but you slept all night. In the morning, Nana saw you turn on the light so you could read a book. She had to go to work so you played with Papa for a while until Dad picked you up! You said that you had fun.

60th Birthday Cake for my Dad

I made the birthday cake for my Dads 60th birthday party, other than trying to make it with three kids wanting my attention, it was fairly easy. White cake, lemon cookies & cream filling and vanilla buttercream frosting.

The face is a drawing of my Dad that he made up and draws often. He loved that I drew it on the cake.

To make the six, I had 9 inch cakes, cut one in half and then using a bowl as a guide, cut out the curve. Using cake scraps and frosting, I aligned the curve with the circle and then frosted it all together.
